Jimmy Kimmel finally came out and said it: Donald Trump is a moron. During an interview with Tucker Carlson this week, Donald Trump falsely claimed that no one was talking about nuclear energy before he came along, and Kimmel pounced on the statements to remind the world that Trump might be the dumbest president that we've ever had as a country. Combined with his arrogance, that stupidity can be exceptionally dangerous, as Farron Cousins explains.
*This transcript was auto-generated. Please excuse any typos. So Donald Trump sat down for an interview with Tucker Carlson, who, as we all remember, hates his guts this week. And, uh, Donald Trump went on a, a bit of a tangent about nuclear warming. Trump said specifically to Tucker Carlson, nobody talks about nuclear. The problem we have, the biggest problem we have in the world. It's not global warming, it's nuclear warming. Um, okay. Trump also said that nuclear is is the N word, um, which no, because you can actually say nuclear. Um, so it's, it's not, it's not that at all. But Jimmy Kimmel decided he'd finally had enough. Now, Jimmy Kimmel, of course, is always one to go after Donald Trump. He does it brilliantly and beautifully. So here is what Jimmy Kimmel said about this very weird nuclear warming claim from Donald Trump. Kimmel said it was an embarrassing interview. What is this batty old man talking about? The reason nobody's talking about nuclear warming is because that's not a thing. It did make one thing very clear. Kimmel says the fact that Donald Trump is a profoundly stupid person. I think it's important to remember that he does not have the best words. He's not a stable genius. That mental competency test, he's always bragging that he passed. It's something the average seven year old could pass. Jimmy Kimmel says, and I love that. This is kind of like Jimmy Kimmel being like, I've had enough. I am going to finally come out and say it. This man is painfully stupid, like so stupid that it hurts us so stupid. That he's probably one of those kids that as a child, would eat rocks, like not just one time either to see what it tasted like. He would repeatedly go back out in the yard and pick up a rock and eat it. That is how stupid Donald Trump seems to be. And he's not wrong. This is a man whose own ego in his arrogance has created a new level of stupidity. We're reality doesn't exist. Reality becomes in Trump's stupid little brain, whatever Trump says it is. And that is a form of ignorance, ignoring and denying the reality around you, and instead living in the fantasy world that you personally created. That's ignorance. But it's ignorance that his arrogance is forcing him to live in Donald Trump doesn't have to be stupid. He is making the conscious choice to be stupid, because that helps him deal with A, a terrifying and scary world that seems to be closing in around him. But that's what we have in this Republican presidential candidate, the man who served four years as president. Now, as I said, it's a stupidity of his own creation, and I do think he is stupid, but I think he's stupid by choice. Whereas George W. Bush, that man was just dumb, right? Just stupid, stupid, stupid. Like he wasn't choosing to be. He wasn't pretending to be. He definitely was stupid. Trump, on the other hand, chooses to be dumb because it makes it easier to understand the world. You know, that little rock analogy I talked about? It's not because he, he thought eating rocks was fun. It's probably because somebody told him, don't eat rocks. It's not good for you. He says, well, you can't tell me what to do. I'm gonna do it anyway because he's dumb. But it's a choice and this is what we're dealing with. But the public does need to be aware of this. Trump says stupid things all the time, and it's difficult to keep track of every stupid thing, but thankfully Jimmy Kimmel's doing a dang good job of it and telling the public point blank that Trump is a moron.
